Gas Leak in Prescott Neighbourhood

November 3, 2021 - We just wanted to provide you an update on the gas leak situation in the neighbourhood near Prescott Learning Centre.

At approximately 10:00am on Wednesday, November 3rd, the smell of gas was evident in our school which led to a full evacuation. Parkland School Division’s Facilities Services staff were able to quickly coordinate with Spruce Grove Fire Services and ATCO gas to confirm that a gas line had been struck in the neighbourhood near the school. A further inspection also confirmed that no gas leak was detected inside the school. After being given the ‘all clear’, students were able to return inside the school to resume their regular activities at around 10:45am.

As in any emergency response, the safety and well-being of all our students is of the utmost priority. We'd like to extend a thank you to the local Fire Services and all first responders for their assistance on this matter. We're happy to report that children and staff were safe at all times. It's a great learning opportunity to familiarize yourself with our school and school division's Emergency Procedures.
