Attendance Area Review Engagement

Thursday, February 24, 2022 -

In order to address existing space constraints and near capacity enrolment at Prescott Learning Centre, Parkland School Division’s Board of Trustees is seeking further input on the suggested Recommendation K in our ongoing Attendance Area Review, which speaks to pre-designating the neighbourhoods of Easton, Fenwyck and Tonewood to Brookwood and Woodhaven rather than Prescott Learning Centre.

The other recommendation that works in concert with Recommendation K would be Recommendation A: Options 1 and 3 which speaks to reconfiguring Parkland Village School to a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school and designating students who move on from Parkland Village to attend Woodhaven Middle School rather than Prescott Learning Centre.

Families that currently attend other schools in PSD as a school-of-choice or are enrolled in other programs like French Immersion, the Maranatha Christian Program or the Parkland Student Athlete Academy, will still have those options available to them moving forward.

Since these proposed changes for Middle Years aged students would not come into effect until the 2023-2024 school year, it would have no impact for any student currently in Grades 8 or 9.

We want to hear from those families that may be impacted by proposed changes.
